K & M // Intimate Homestead Wedding

Kate and Marissa's wedding day was held at their homestead outside of Marquette Michigan. The home itself is a beautiful ode to Kate's late father and sits on a beautiful wooded forest with mountains to pair. Before the ceremony began, the couple met on top of their own mountain to overlook the Huron Mountains, Big Bay, and partake in a first look and a cocoa ceremony separate from the guests. The fall foliage was absolutely stunning and made for a vivid backdrop.

I love when couples take intentional time to be alone and enjoy the day as what the following days will be, just the two of you. A first look, cocoa ceremony, or quick moment alone at sunset, often gives the sweetest emotions to capture or offers a great check-in point with each other. The day flies by!

The rest of Kate and Marissa's wedding day was filled with love, people, heartfelt moments, embraces, home-cooked food, locally performed music, and dancing fireside with friends. It was beyond a perfect autumn day, tucked in the woods with cauldrons of ciders and quality conversation brewing. Marissa even found time to plan a surprise first dance with sparklers for all the guests to surround the two. Hand-picked, thrifted glassware for guests to use for the evening and take home made for a sustainable party favor that reflected the commitment they have to the planet. Desserts so heavily decorated it nearly blended in with the forest floor, a children's tent with crowns, capes, and crafts, as well as hand-painted signs with Princess Bride Quotes and more. The endless love poured into the details slightly begins to capture the love Kate and Marissa have for each other.
